Basic Woodworking Intensive

June 3-7 2024
In this week-long woodworking intensive, you will learn the following and more!

  • The safety and use of the miter saw, jointer, planer, table saw, router, bandsaw and drill press.

  • Selection of joinery and wood movement.

  • Joinery methods that range from simple to more complex like dovetails, mortise and tenon, and dados and rabbets.

  • Sharpening and introduction to hand tools

  • Panel building, sanding, and finishing techniques.

This class focuses on advancing your woodworking skills by using lecture as well as hands on activities to build a solid foundation of skills for all your future woodworking adventures. The basic intensive is perfect for true beginners as well as those wanting to refresh their skills. We cater to adults, couples and parent/child retreats. You will begin by gaining hands-on experience with the safety and use of all the major power tools. Design, wood movement and joinery techniques will be discussed throughout the week. Each student will have extensive hands-on experiences that will lead to the construction of a custom table. You will be able to customize your table and make it unique to you. The goal is to complete the table (without finishing) by Friday afternoon. After completion of this class, you will be well on your way to becoming a quality craftsperson.

Cabinet Making Intensive

July 8-12 2024
In this week-long cabinet making experience, you will learn the following and more!

  • The safety and use of the miter saw, jointer, planer, table saw, router, bandsaw and drill press.

  • How to layout and design cabinets.

  • How to build a cabinet carcass.

  • How to build doors and drawers.

  • Assembly methods

  • Choosing and installing hardware

This class focuses on the construction of a face frame cabinet and is perfect for true beginners as well as current woodworkers that would like to expand their cabinet making skill set. The week begins with the safety and use of all the major power tools. With these skills, each student will begin construction of a cabinet carcass. Design, layout and different methods for building doors and drawers are covered in detail throughout the week. By the end of the week, each student will have constructed a small cabinet that will last for years to come. Finishing techniques will also be covered. The skills gained in this class will apply to any future cabinet making projects. This class is perfect for adults, couples, and family groups.
